Movies, like the Sound of Freedom, have given a glimpse into the dark world of trafficking in persons and sex trafficking. “God’s children are not for sale”, was the line that gripped the viewers’ attention. However, ongoing awareness campaigns are necessary for education of the general public and especially children in South Africa and globally.

Amy Arnold, Unchain Our Children’s specialist Operative directing counter human trafficking activities was invited by Brian, a UNODC representative in South Africa to speak on the topic in Sandton. Brian gave an informative talk about the dangers of human trafficking and the laws pertaining to it and Amy spoke on the grooming of victims and online safety.

“The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is a global leader in the fight against illicit drugs and international crime, in addition to being responsible for implementing the United Nations lead program on terrorism. Established in 1997, UNODC has approximately 500 staff members worldwide. UNODC's mission is to contribute to global peace and security, human rights and development by making the world safer from drugs and crime”. https://www.unov.org/unov/en/unodc.html
