Unchain Our Children supported launch of Wonderboom SAPS Child Protection Hotline

The Social Crime Prevention Unit of SAPS launched the Wonderboompoort Child Protection Hotline with Wonderboompoort SAPS today at Hillview High School in Roseville.

The Wonderboompoort Hotline is part of 189 active Child Protection Hotlines available via SMS, WhatsApp and voice calls, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Any child in an abusive situation or an adult that is aware of child abuse neglect, bulling, trafficking, or other human rights violations related to the violation and exploitation of children, can call for help and assistance.

With SAPS Air Wing, Water Wing, Mounted Unit and Emergency Services on full display, complete with helicopters and horses, the children were made aware of the strong presence of law enforcement and the support it gives, especially with reference to any abuse against children.  The day’s activities emphasized that, “every child matters” as the slogan of the hotline initiative so clearly states.

Danie van Loggerenberg, a father himself, and the founder of the Child Protection Hotlines in South Africa insists that every call is answered and relayed to SAPS and to the Department Social Development, various security services and emergency services.

Dr Margareth Phalane, principal of Hillview High welcomed the guests and thanked all the role players for partnering in protecting children.

DA Councillors, Priscilla Panell, Elma Nel and Leon Kruyshaar were present, showing their dedication to the protection of children.

Several Unchain Our Children Operatives were present, amongst other, SAFREC and Victim Empowerment Hercules SAPS.  The Operatives attended to show their solidarity to the initiative and support towards SAPS Wonderboompoort and The Social Crime Prevention Unit of SAPS.
