Wayne van Onselen, Executive Director of UNCHAIN OUR CHILDREN was invited to speak at the Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness for the victims and survivors of gender-based violence, child abuse and human trafficking. He also shared the many successes Unchain Our Children celebrated when survivors were brought to safety and are families united.
Pieter Venter, founding member and Executive Director of PRIVADECT (Pty) LTD was the main guest speaker who spoke on Cyber Crimes and BEC Crimes. Pieter is a forensic investigator and intelligence operator, and was responsible, in collaboration with Unchain Our Children, SAPS, HAWKS, INTERPOL and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) for more than one successful intervention and return of survivors of Human Trafficking.
*Emme, a survivor of soft Human Trafficking, also spoke and alerted the audience about the latest tendencies of the syndicates who target experienced professionals who, despite their lawful presence in a country, still get scammed. “Immediate action is required to prevent this from happening to anyone by increasing awareness of how these syndicates function across large organizations, governments and the legal system”, Emme said.
A stronger bond between NPOs, NPCs, the business community and government is envisaged as the reality of human trafficking is negatively impacting on families and business.
The event was sponsored by TRANS LETABA PANELBEATERS in Tzaneen.
